Body Instrument

This sound performance investigates the sonic potential of the human body, independent of external objects. In an era where people are constantly immersed in either the physical or virtual world, the time for self-connection has diminished. However, I have always found myself naturally detached from my surroundings—capable of filtering out external noise, remaining unaware of visually striking moments, or getting lost in my imagination even amid conversations. With this project, I chose to turn inward and listen to my own body.

The performance consists of 20 one-minute videos, each capturing a different bodily sound I produced. Through this process, I realized that what seemed like simple actions required significant endurance. Some movements, such as back-knocking, are unexpectedly uncomfortable, even painful, to sustain. This piece serves as both an exploration of self-awareness and a testament to the physicality of sound, revealing the often-overlooked relationship between the body and its auditory presence.
